Support Groups

Periodically support groups will be started to assist members of the church, their family, friends, and members of the wider community that the church serves. The types of groups and frequency of the meetings will depend on the needs identified, so please let us know of your needs or the needs of others. In the past we have supported divorce and grief recovery groups.  If you or someone you know has a need for individual or group support contact the Church Office for more information and to express your need for a group at (626) 282-4181.

Grief Support Group
Loss of a loved one - spouse, child, parent or others - is always a very painful experience.  One's feelings seem to run wild at first.  Then, as time passes, they gradually settle down and one tries to cope with the loss as best they can. 

At this stage many people find help in a group with others who are experiencing similar losses.  Here they can share their story, and, in turn, hear the stories of others.  They find this mutual support very helpful.  With these thoughts in mind San Marino Community Church sponsors a Grief Support Group for those in need.  Facilitated by Noreen Nazarian, meetings take place on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Church Lounge.  Please note that anything discussed in this group stays within the group.  This way one's privacy is preserved. 

The Grief Support Group is open to anyone in our larger community, not just members of San Marino Community Church.  If you ever find yourself and/or know of others in this position we'll offer you a very warm welcome. 

Holiday Grief Group For Those With Recent Losses
Living with loss while others celebrate Advent, Christmas, and New Year's can be intensely sorrowful.  If your loved one died in the last year or two, Rev. Karen Berns, with Stephen Ministers Jackie Lindstrom Thompson and Bill Wells invite you to come for Christian group support.  Initial meeting will be Wednesday, November 28, at 3:00 pm in the church library.  Please contact the Rev.
