History of
SMCC Windows Icons In The Sanctuary Windows
The individual images in this colorful section are of the stained
glass windows in the Sanctuary at SMCC. Some of the text
included with the images were taken from the book, "Symbolism in Liturgical Art" by Appleton and
Bridges. All the stained glass windows in
the Sanctuary were made by the Judson Studios.
In 1973, SMCC church member Muffy Seymour prepared a detailed study
of the icons shown throughout the Sanctuary stained glass windows.
Her work resulted in a small, hand-drawn manuscript titled "Christian Symbolism" (contains a "guided
tour" of our Sanctuary) which can
be found in the
Church Library.
