PDA Offerings
SMCC responds to famine in Somalia and Horn of Africa $2,000 of your Outreach Mission Funds for Severe Situations is being sent through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) to help feed the burgeoning numbers of starving people in Somalia and surrounding areas. The world’s largest refugee camp, Dabaab in Kenya, built to hold 90,000 now holds more than 420,000. Already over 29,000 children have died of starvation. PDA is responding to this crisis in cooperation with members of ACT Alliance (Action by Churches Together). ACT members with experience and partnerships in the area are working to help meet basic humanitarian needs of food, water and sanitation, and medical care for people in the camp and in host communities in both Kenya and Somalia. Special therapeutic feeding and nutrition is being provided to children under the age of five. PDA has provided $200,000 from One Great Hour of Sharing funds towards relief efforts in Somalia and the Horn of Africa.
Families and individuals may also donate through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Please go to http://gamc.pcusa.org/ministries/pda/
Christmas Mission Market
Looking for the perfect holiday gift? Something unique and memorable?Do you want to brighten the lives of others with a gift that matters? At San Marino Community Church’s Christmas Mission Market there are many ways available to reach out and meet critical needs of those less fortunate, both locally and around the world, purchasing both handcrafted gifts as well as many ways to give contributions in honor of others. During Sunday school, children will receive a "passport" which may be stamped at each station as they tour the market and learn about the various missions. Small gifts will be available from many of the mission partners – providing teaching opportunities as well as the chance to purchase their own gifts for others. (Children will also enjoy a visit to the petting zoo.)
All will enjoy popcorn and lemonade, served in addition to doughnuts and coffee. Order forms and booklets with more background on each of the mission partners will be available before and after the event. For those unable to attend the market, pre-orders will be taken in the church office beginning 11/8, and gift cards will be available at the Mission Market Extension 11/20 & 11/27 on the front lawn. Please visit the Catalog of Sale Items and use this Order Form.

At Church in Malawi!
2010 Mission Partners
Mission is the core identity of every Christian and every church; it’s the purpose of the church and not a program of the church. Currently, the reach of SMCC’s God-given creativity, imagination, time, talent, and resources extends from the San Gabriel Valley, across the nation and beyond, to global strategic partners on four continents. In 2010, the church cultivated strategic mission partnerships, grouped into seven categories that include twenty-one diverse ministries. We consider it a privilege for all of the church’s resources to be fully engaged in the provisional demonstration of Christ to the world and believe that no one is beyond God’s reach.
