Confirmation Class

What is Confirmation?  Confirmation is more than a rite of passage or prerequisite for becoming a member of our church.  It is an opportunity for high school students to deepen and confirm their faith in Jesus Christ, learn the basics of Christianity, and understand what it means to identify with the Presbyterian and universal church family.

Each participant or "confirmand" will be asked to articulate his/her belief in Jesus Christ in a written "faith statement" and will be given an opportunity to join the family of faith at San Marino Community Church in the Spring of 2008.  Confirmands will also have the opportunity to meet with an adult mentor (approximately twice a month) as part of the growth journey.

Classes will be held every Sunday from 10:00 - 10:30 am beginning November 4, 2007 through February 10, 2008.  (There will be no classes 11/25, 12/23, and 12/30).  There will be a kick-off luncheon on October 28, 2007 for all confirmands, parents, and mentors at 12:30 pm in Fellowship Hall.

The Confirmation Retreat will take place February 15 - 16, 2008.  Confirmands will meet with the Session at their evening meeting on February 27, 2008 and be received as members during worship service in March.  Although not mandatory, confirmands are encouraged to participate in the high school mission trip to Mexico (week of April 7th) and the services on Youth Sunday (4/27/08).
