Dear Members and Friends of San
Marino Community Church,
On November 13, 2004, SMCC officers and lay
leadership attended a mini-retreat here at the
church entitled, “Building for the Future.” Each
member of the Session, Deacons, Trustees,
Foundation, and Pastor Nominating Committee who
attended received a financial report from Chris
Mitchell, SMCC Trustee and Treasurer, regarding
SMCC’s financial status. Of great significance, the
presentation began with three SMCC Financial Myths:
• SMCC is a wealthy church with no real need for money; • I don’t need to worry about SMCC’s finances…someone else
will take care of it; • SMCC will never change.
Please read the
Executive Summary of Chris’
presentation that addresses these financial myths.
How did your lay leadership respond to this
information? They strongly believe that we cannot
ask the congregation to give until the
officers/leaders lead the congregation with their
giving. Collectively they increased their 2005
pledges to SMCC by 74% -- their individual increases
range from 3% to 300%
You will also find a
17-minute video
(long download time) here that outlines the 2005
initiatives around Youth, Mission, and Worship. Please
prayerfully consider your response to our current
2004 financial position, and our vision to build for
the future with your 2005 pledge.
Faithfully,
Rev. Brad Calhoun, Interim Pastor 2005 Elder Barbara Maxwell, Stewardship Chair
