Outreach Ministry
Hands-On Volunteer Opportunities

Opportunity 1:
Union Station - a great place to serve dinner!  Get your small group or ministry together and spend an evening preparing and serving dinner to the homeless adults of Pasadena.  These men and women are deeply appreciative of a variety of home-cooked meals, a smile, and a conversation.  Serving one Sunday evening is a great way for a group or committee to be in mission together.  Contact Denise Cervenka at outreach@smccpby.com or Rev. Karen Berns if interested.

Opportunity 2:
The Board of Deacons thanks those who support SMCC's canned food drive each Communion Sunday!  The food is donated to Faith United Presbyterian Church in East Los Angeles.  The food helps feed approximately 600 low-income people on a weekly basis, many of them homeless.  The types of foods most in demand are:  individual boxes of cereal, single-serving items, juice boxes, bottled water, 8 oz. pork and beans, peanut butter, tuna, puddings, and crackers.

For those of you who would like to be a part of this mission, it's as easy as bringing canned and dried food to the worship service on Communion Sunday (the first Sunday of every month), or to the Church Office.  If you are interested in helping to unload the truck and either putting away the food or setting it out in bags, Faith United needs help every Thursday from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon.  For more information call the church office at (626) 282-4181
.

Opportunity 3:
As you clean cupboards and closets this winter, please remember to save the following items for SMCC (items may be dropped off at the church office):
    - Travel size shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, etc. from hotel stays or airplane to be included in Deacon's hygiene kits.
    - Eyeglasses, Campbell soup labels, devotional materials and Bibles for projects of the Presbyterian Women's Group.

Reach out and raise hope to those less fortunate!
