A Star of Hope - Christmas Giving Tree |

|
|
There came wise men from the east to Jerusalem saying,
"Where is He that is born King of the Jews? For we
have seen His star in the east, and have come to worship
Him."
The story of the Christmas Star reminds us of the holy event
that led three wise men - magi filled with hope for the
world - to the manger of the newborn Christ child. It
is an example of how each of us can be a guiding light for
others.
The Board of Deacons invites you to make a
difference in the lives of low-income families through the
annual Christmas Giving Tree. Please join us in the
courtyard at the Giving Tree on 11/18, 11/25, and 12/2/07.
On the tree you will find ornaments which represent the
following items:
- Each turkey, apple, and orange ornament represents a $25 gift for
groceries.
- Each child ornament, pink or blue, represents a present for a child
(valued between $25 and $30).
- Each gold pot is for a cash donation. Any amount will be
accepted. The amount received will be totaled and
divided equally among all of the families for an extra
Christmas gift.
- The white dove ornaments should be chosen by a person, or family, who
will coordinate all items to be received by a particular
recipient family, including arranging for delivery of the
gifts.
Please choose an ornament which represents how you would
like to participate; take your ornament to one of the tables
and we will help you sign-up. If you have any
questions about this ministry please contact the church
office at (626) 282-4181 or smcc@smccpby.com.
For most families what we provide to them will be the only
hope they will receive this Christmas season.
Let us be a guiding light this Christmas and always!
